Marais Ferreira
FOUNDER
The establishment of Investigacion De Accidente (IDA) stemmed from Marais Ferreira’s extensive 22-year career with the South African Police Service (SAPS).
With a passion for accident investigation and reconstruction, Marais served in the SAPS accident unit since 2000, handling over 9,000 accidents. His role involved compiling and reconstructing accident scenes and providing testimony in numerous court cases, which led to securing excellent convictions.
Marais’ expertise was honed through training in Basic Accident Investigation from TEEX, an Australian course presented by TUT, and a two-week SAPS Road Crime crash scene investigation course. He also received a gold award for implementing IMS (Incident Management System) protocols from the RTMC (Road Traffic Management Corporation).
Marais’ work extended to advising city engineers and road construction companies on improving road safety.Marais holds qualifications as a plan drawer and professional photographer and has attended several international conferences on road traffic accidents.
He has also investigated high-profile accidents, such as the one involving the Deputy Minister of Health. His extensive experience in the SAPS has positioned him to assist the private sector in developing corrective actions to prevent similar incidents and accidents.
