24/7, 365 days, On scene Accident Investigation
In the event of an Accident happening I prefer to, as soon as possible, attend to (especially serious) Accidents personally. My expertise, the interpretation and quality of my reconstruction report will rest heavily on the amount of first-hand information I will obtain from a fresh scene.
The ideal will be, considering time and distance constraints, I will attend Accident scenes within minutes after the accident occurred.
In circumstances that the Accident scene is in another Province, excluding Gauteng, the scene and full investigation will be done the following day. This will allow for travel time to the scene.
02
Compiling of Reconstruction Accident Report
After I attend an Accident the compiling of all report commences. The first report will be a preliminary report. This report will be available 24 hours after the scene was visited.
Depending on circumstances a full reconstruction report will be available within three (3) weeks after receiving instruction to investigate an accident. This report will be a comprehensive report that will explain the whole accident and its elements in detail, including photos, plans and other relevant information.
03
Accident on Scene investigation training
The accident investigation environment is quite unique in South Africa. There is a legal obligation set out by the Constitution of the Republic and the SAPS Act, that the SAPS must investigate all criminal scenes. Accidents can also be classified as a criminal scene, especially where persons were killed.
As I am familiar with the SAPS act, Regulations and Standing Orders the training is in direct requirements that the SAPS will need. Members will thus be trained in all aspects as required by the act and regulations. This will save time and money.
There are numerous aspects to be addressed in this training. The training will be over a period of five (5) days. This is to ensure that delegates understand all the dynamics and feel comfortable after the training. It includes practical sessions.
04
Mechanical
Investigation
The mechanical investigation will focus on the condition of the vehicles involved in an accident to determine if they were any mechanical faults that could have led or contributed to the accident according to the nature of the accident.
The purpose of the mechanical investigation will be to inspect the parts or components excessively worn out or damaged on involved vehicles to an extend that they could have contributed or led to the specific accident.
He will also determine whether the damaged parts of the involved vehicles were due to the impact or they were damaged prior to the accident.
05
Mechanical
Report
This report will provide the detailed overall condition of the involved vehicles and the mechanical faults found with the aid of pictures. It will also provide the technical analysis of whether the damaged parts of the involved vehicles were due to the impact or happened prior to the accident.
06
IMS
Training
In the event of being involved in a major Accident, the Road Traffic Act is going to be amended that IMS must be implemented on these scenes. I had training and received a gold award from the RTMC for complying with and implementing IMS principles.
I will provide training to you in this respect as well and this will be a huge advantage if your employees are seen on these scenes to know and comply with IMS protocols.
07
Technical
Advice
I can provide the company with technical advice on driver behaviour and factors that cause or contribute to accidents for the company. Thru identifying these factors preventative or cost saving operating procedures can be put into place.
08
Fleet
Management
I provide fleet management service whereby I do complete fleet inspections. I provide feedback and inspect vehicles according to the specifications and regulations as set out by SANS 10042 regarding roadworthiness of vehicles. There is a checklist that I compile and for each vehicle a list is completed. Any minor and major faults are identified and a complete report is send to the company.
I also keep a photographic record of every vehicle in your fleet. Thus if there is an accident or incident the photos can be recalled as proof or were disputes are entered into.
09
Accident Report(AR)
Training
I developed the AR course for the SAPS with the assistance of Division Training. There is an enormous problem with the completion of the AR form in the operational section of the SAPS. This has a very negative impact on service delivery and especially when it comes to criminal investigations.
I presented numerous AR courses at Springs Training and Pretoria West training institutions. Members have no idea on how the AR forms need to be completed or even how the form works. If members are trained on how to complete these forms, more criminal cases can result in convictions.
This can have a positive effect on the behaviour of motorists in general as they will see that more people are convicted when they caused accidents.
10
Consultative assistance for hearings and Court Proceedings
In the event of either a Departmental hearing, Criminal or Civil matter being instituted the dynamics of Accidents and technical detail can change. This can put you as the client in difficult situations.
Advice can be provided by me in the form of technical advice, reports, plans and other relevant data that can be used by you as the client to put you in a better position to proceed with these cases.
The reports can be used in court or civil actions. After the investigations and reports are completed it will be given to the client to hand to his insurance or legal representatives.
